After my pet had a long, drawn-out battle with cancer, I realized that I needed to do a better job with understanding my pet's needs. I wanted to be there for them no matter what, so I started focusing on my other animals. They needed more love, attention, and medical care, so I focused on those things. I started taking them in for regular checkups and working on their physical appearance. I was able to spot a few other potentially catastrophic health conditions with my animals because of my actions. This blog is all about understanding your pet's needs.

I recently took over the family farm after my uncle fell ill. I was surprised that he asked me to take over the operations of the family farm because I have not been around him much. He told me that out of all of his nieces and nephews, he thought I could handle it the best. My first adventure was dealing with a pregnant horse. Although my uncle was ill, he was there to help me learn the things that I didn't know. After several hours of labor, I could tell that the mare was clearly in distress. I called the horse vet in SC to come to our aid.
When the SC horse vet arrived, I was impressed because by then, I was a nervous wreck. He came right in and took charge of the situation. I could tell that he was very comfortable and knowledgeable about horses. He examined the mare and said that he believed the baby to be in a breech position. He told me what we needed to do. It sounded scary but necessary. In just a few minutes after correcting the issue, we had a beautiful foal added to our stable. This was definitely a unique experience.
